Day 2 begins with a serene and peaceful start, as we sip a warm cup of tea or coffee while preparing for our exciting journey to the macaw and parrot clay lick.
We embark on a boat ride along the Tambopata River, navigating for over half an hour, during which we may catch sight of majestic creatures like jaguars or anacondas.
Subsequently, we’ll arrive at the clay lick or “Collpa Chuncho” as its locally known, we are treated to a breathtaking spectacle of colors and sounds as hundreds of macaws and parrots congregate to feast on the mineral-rich clay.
We spend over three hours marveling at the wondrous sight that the Collpa Chuncho provides, all while enjoying a delicious country breakfast.
Afterward, we return to the boat and venture into the smaller branches of the Tambopata River in search of more wildlife, such as capybaras, tapirs, wild pigs, monkeys, caimans, turtles, and cats.
The stunning scenery of the Tambopata National Reserve and its rivers provides a picturesque backdrop for our journey.
Afternoon Activities
In the afternoon, we make our way back to the city, taking the same route as before.

The lake is home to hundreds of macaws, parrots, and parakeets, and we may spot black caimans, herons, cormorants, wild ducks, swallows, and even a family of river otters.
We explore the lake by rowboat, possibly catching piranhas for a quick photo before releasing them back into the water.
As the sun begins to set, we head to the pier and board our boat once again to return to our lodge, where we can rest and relax after a fulfilling day of adventure.
