Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Filadelfia Community – Night Exploration
Start of the adventure in the Peruvian Amazon rainforest
Upon your arrival in Puerto Maldonado, our team will welcome you at the airport or bus terminal and take you to the main office for registration. Afterwards, at 9:30 a.m., we will begin the transfer by vehicle to the Filadelfia Community, on a journey of approximately one hour surrounded by jungle landscapes. From there, we will navigate the Tambopata River for 20 minutes until reaching our ecolodge, surrounded by the lush Peruvian Amazon rainforest.
After settling into your comfortable room and enjoying a typical lunch, we will begin a guided walk through the Tambopata jungle. For approximately two hours, you will walk along trails where you will learn about Amazonian medicinal plants and impressive trees over 600 years old. Our naturalist guide will share fascinating stories about Tambopata’s wildlife and take you to a birdwatching tower, ideal for birdwatching, where you can observe exotic birds such as the hoatzin and toucans. Day 2: Boat Ride – Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick

Very early, we will begin the adventure with a cup of hot coffee or tea to prepare ourselves for one of the most unforgettable experiences of the trip: the Chuncho Tambopata Macaw Clay Lick.
You will navigate by boat along the Tambopata River for more than 30 minutes, while enjoying the beauty of the surrounding jungle. With a bit of luck, during the journey you may spot jaguars, anacondas, capybaras, or other animals that inhabit the riverbanks.
Upon arriving at the famous Chuncho Clay Lick, also known as the “clay lick,” you will witness a unique natural spectacle. Hundreds of macaws, parrots, and parakeets gather every morning to feed on the mineral-rich clay, creating a scene full of vibrant colors and intense sounds. This activity is ideal for birdwatching in the Amazon rainforest. You will remain at this site for more than three hours, accompanied by a country-style breakfast, while observing this natural phenomenon.

At sunset, you will witness an unforgettable Amazonian landscape, with the sky painted in orange and violet tones reflected on the waters of the lake. Afterwards, you will return to the accommodation located near the Monkey Island to rest. I was in Cusco and wanted to visit the jungle originally thinking Tambopata, overwhelmed with options. My desire was to visit the Amazon and be deep in the jungle with few people. I walked into the office and met Pedro who talked with me for over half an hour explaining different options. Ultimately, Pedro told me that Manu National Park is the place to be in the jungle with few people. Pedro helped me book a 6 day tour in Manu National Park 2 days later.
It is hard to describe how special Manu national park was. The trees, the wildlife, the river, seeing uncontacted Natives, and hearing all of the jungle sounds.
